Campora San Giovanni, Italy

On Sundays in summer, italians flock to the beaches in Calabria.
On these days the “lido” owners pull out all the stops to entertain their guests: special food is prepared, there is dancing, and on this day, to everyone’s delight, there was a foam machine.

The mixture of delight, chaos and worry in these shots really move me. There is something about the quality of light in Calabria in summer. There is a softness to it, the evaporation from the sea acting as the kindest filter.
